The nearest shopping centre is the medieval market town of Abergavenny, "gateway to Wales"‚ with a host of small shops, restaurants, coffee shops, indoor market (Tues, Fri & Sat), cattle market (Tues), flea market, antique market, craft fairs, pretty parks, castle, museum, leisure centre with swimming pool, tennis courts and theatres. There is a golf centre and falconry centre just outside the town. The annual food festival takes place in September.
The historic Cathedral city of Hereford, half an hour away, is famed for its Mappa Mundi and chained library and boasts a C17 Jacobean half-timbered house, now a museum, a cider museum and King Offa's distillery. There are many beautiful Herefordshire black and white villages, ancient churches, woodlands and gardens to explore.
Hay-on-Wye, world famous town of books, has many attractions including the annual Hay festival, castle and antique shops..
The market towns of Kington (small breeds park), Ross on Wye (Grandma Peggy‚s shop and family life museum), Monmouth (Canoe Centre, Nelson museum, Summer Music concerts), Brecon (annual jazz festival August, cathedral, theatre and canal), Blaenavon (Big Pit and Ironworks) and Merthyr Tydfil (Mountain Railway) are within easy reach.
Castles/historic buildings in the area include: Abergavenny, Caerleon, Caldicot, Chepstow, Eastnor, Goodrich, Longtown, Raglan, Skenfrith, Whitecastle, Dore and Tintern Abbeys. Llanthony Abbey is eight miles away (but less if you walk over the mountain). Llanvihangel Court is four miles. St Fagan‚s, the Welsh folk Museum a little further afield, but definitely worth the trip.
Symonds Yat has an amazing hedge puzzle, boat trips, canoeing and a butterfly farm.

Long distance walks include Offa's Dyke, the Herefordshire Trail and the Marches Way. There are many shorter rambles down leafy lanes and beaten paths with footpaths running close to the property. The River Monnow flows through pretty Clodock, half a mile away.
Craft centres and Art Galleries are plentiful. Monnow Valley Arts and Cellar Gallery are just up the road.
There are numerous Water Mills in the area with open days during the year.
Local shows and fetes take place in spring and summer. Concerts with superb local talent are highly recommended.
